Oak Grove, Missouri

Oak Grove is a small town in Missouri, located about 27 miles east of Kansas City. It’s a railroad town that has grown into a thriving community. It has several parks and shops and is easily accessible from Interstate 70. It’s also one of the fastest-growing cities in the state, with an estimated population of approximately 8,000.

The city’s first post office opened in 1904. It was originally called Creighton Station, which is related to the area’s ties to the old trolley line. In 1907, however, the post office’s name changed to Oak Grove. The name was officially incorporated in January 1909. After that, Oak Grove was considered to be the economic center of the parish.

The Town of Oak Grove City Council is the legislative body of the city and acts as its chief policy-making body. In the 1950s, the city’s economy diversified with the establishment of a movie theatre, the Fiske theater, and a state-of-the-art cotton gin, which is still operating today. Eventually, the textile industry began to shift out of the city to offshore locations. Its historic downtown is still a lively business district.
